“If one wants to truly pwn, one must pwn in all games.”
I’ve been following Pure Pwnage for a number of years, they hold episode premiers right here in my hometown of Toronto, and aside from the forums, the community is extremely welcoming and friendly. If you haven’t heard of it, then quite simply, you’re a n00b.
Pure Pwnage is a show about a pro-gamer named Jeremy (played by Jarett Cale), who’s a bit on the clueless side when it comes to the world around him. Smack a keyboard/mouse/controller in his hands though and he’ll take you to school. The show, which centers around he and his friend Kyle (played by Geoff Lapaire), is about how much Jeremy pwns Jeremy overcoming various problems in his life, with his pwnage, with womens, with his friendships, and all the while helping teh_masterer build the Gamer Army.
It sounds kind of lame, and maybe in some ways it is – but it’s never failed to get a laugh out of me and make me feel better about being nerdy when the world shuns us!
After producing a slew of episodes and managing to turn it from a small video project between some friends, to an international internet phenomenon, with gatherings all across the world and a merchandise-side which now feeds and clothes the creators. Well, after all their hard work and making fun of TV, Showcase has picked them up (and doing a helluva job promoting them, too!)
If you haven’t heard of the show before, check it the fsck out, RITE NAO! @ http://www.purepwnage.com/
You can check out the internet episodes which stream right off the site, but the Showcase premier is going to be a complete re-imagining rather than a continuation. I strongly urge you check out the merch section, there’s some pretty badass t-shirt designs in there that’ll provide you with many lulz.
-and if you live in the GTA and have nothing to do on Saturday, March 20th, why not come down to the Pure Pwnage premier, at the Bloor cinema in downtown Toronto? I’ll be there, so let’s all get our game on!
Jeremy ponders pwnage.
